Six people are dead and three others are missing as a result of heavy rain in Japan’s Kyushu region, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to public broadcaster NHK, the facilities and the missing people were reported in the prefectures of Fukuoka, Saga, and Oita as a result of landslides and other disasters brought on by the heavy rain.
A 77-year-old woman was killed in Soeda Town, Fukuoka, on Monday morning when a landslip struck her home, and a man in his 70s who was pulled from a submerged truck in Hirokawa town was later declared dead at the hospital.
Three additional people in the prefecture were also identified as dead, including a man in his fifties whose body was discovered in a flooded subway in Dazaifu. In Kurume city, a man in his 70s was determined to be dead after being discovered at the scene of a mudslide that destroyed several homes, while a man in his 40s or 50s was determined to be dead after being discovered lying in a rice field.

According to the report, a landslip struck two homes in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. Two men were still missing when rescuers discovered a woman, who had no vital signs and later was determined to be dead.
According to the NHK, a woman in her 50s who disappeared from a riverside road in the city of Nakatsu was being sought in Oita Prefecture.
