ISRO chief: Chandrayaan-3 will launch in the middle of July

Chandrayaan 3 testing is complete, and the launch window is aimed at between July 12 and July 19. This was revealed by S. Somnath, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), on Wednesday.

The Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft is currently completely integrated. We’ve finished testing and connected it to the rocket compartment… The current window of opportunity for launch is between July 12 and July 19, so we will choose the earliest date possible, possibly July 12. After all of the tests are finished, we will reveal the precise date, Mr. Somnath told the ANI news agency.

Other ISRO representatives independently stated that Chandrayaan 3 is scheduled to launch on July 13 at 2:30 p.m. local time from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota using a GSLV Mark 3 heavy-lift launch vehicle.

Following the somewhat successful Chandrayaan- 2 mission in 2019, the mission—India’s third attempt to reach the moon—represents another major step for the country in space exploration. Despite being able to orbit the moon, the previous mission’s Vikram Lander experienced a hard landing, which prevented the Rover from being deployed as intended.

Similar to Chandrayaan 2, Chandrayaan 3 will have a Lander and a Rover but will not have an Orbiter. The Lander and Rover will be carried by the propulsion module, which is intended to serve as a communications relay satellite until the spacecraft is in a 100 km lunar orbit.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission’s three main goals are to land on the Moon safely and softly, show off the Rover’s loitering abilities on the lunar surface, and carry out in-situ scientific observations.  The mission’s objective is to investigate the soil, water, and chemical elements present on the lunar surface in order to better comprehend the lunar composition.
