India provides humanitarian aid to Palestine in the Israel-Hamas conflict

With 32 tonnes of aid, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C17 aircraft took off for El-Arish Airport in Egypt on Sunday in order to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, who are engulfed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reiterated New Delhi’s resolve to provide aid to Gaza residents in a post on X, writing, “We continue to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.” A second @IAF_MCC C17 plane loaded with 32 tonnes of relief is taking off for Egypt’s El-Arish Airport.

38 tonnes of humanitarian aid were previously sent by India to assist civilians impacted by the Israeli forces’ ongoing ground offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Fluids and painkillers were included in the aid package. The approximately 32-ton disaster relief material included, among other things, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, basic sanitary supplies, and water purification tablets.

After India earlier sent emergency aid to Gaza, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry Arindam Bagchi wrote on X, saying, “India sends humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine! An IAF C-17 aircraft heads for El-Arish airport in Egypt with approximately 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies and 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies for the Palestinian people. Among other necessities, the material contains tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary supplies, water purification tablets, and vital life-saving medications.

According to a recent statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, India intends to provide additional humanitarian aid to the impacted civilians in the area.

“This is about humanitarian law being observed, civilian casualties being avoided, and efforts to provide humanitarian relief to those affected by the conflict being encouraged,” Bagchi stated. “This is not about one specific facility.”
